The University Art Gallery will open the 2017–18 exhibition season with Anna Campbell’s “Apparatus for a Dream Sequence,” an exhibition of sculpture that takes ordinary objects and materials and presents them in unfamiliar ways. Materials and objects become metaphor. Pragmatic materials preclude finished or closed meanings, and the difficulties and artifice of gender performances of all kinds are laid bare. “Apparatus for a Dream Sequence” is on view in the University Art Gallery from Thursday, Aug. 31 through Friday, Oct. 13.
Campbell will present her work at a public talk and reception at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, in Convocation Hall. The public is invited to attend.
