MCCSN 24th Annual Walk-A-Thon
The Multi-County Cancer Support Network (MCCSN) will host its annual fundraiser 6 p.m.–midnight, today (Friday), Sept. 8, at the football stadium, 839 Dinah Shore Blvd., beside the Franklin County Annex building in Winchester.

American Legion Meets Sept. 9
American Legion Post 51 will hold its regular monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in the Legion Hall on University Avenue in Sewanee.
The UDC Chapter 327, Kirby-Smith, Sewanee, will have its monthly meeting at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Oak Restaurant in Manchester.
Coffee with the Coach on Monday
Coffee with the Coach, an opportunity to learn more about Sewanee’s sports teams, continues at 9 a.m., Monday, Sept. 11, with University of the South Athletic Director Mark Webb. Gather at the Blue Chair Tavern for free coffee and conversation.
P.E.O. Sisterhood Meeting Sept. 12

La Leche League Meets Sept. 12
The August meeting of the La Leche League, which provides breastfeeding support and information for new mothers, will be at 10:30 a.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the Sewanee Community Center, 39 Ball Park Rd. EQB Club Meeting
Members of the EQB Club will gather at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, at St. Mary’s Sewanee. The lead will be presented at 12:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Ty Wilkinson will discuss “Swimming in Quicksand: The American Healthcare System.”
Community Council Agenda Items Due Sept. 13
The next meeting of the Community Council is scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30, at the Sewanee Senior Citizens’ Center.
Monday, Sept. 25, is reserved as a possible meeting date and will meet then only if there are urgent concerns. If there are any items for discussion that cannot wait until October, please submit them to the Provost’s office by noon on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
Area Rotary Club Meetings
The Grundy County Rotary Club meets at 11:30 a.m., Tuesdays at Dutch Maid Bakery in Tracy City. The Monteagle Sewanee Rotary Club will meet at 8 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Sewanee Inn for a presentation by Katie Staten Sneed on the new Rotaract club.
Franklin County School Board
The Franklin County School Board will meet for a regular session at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Board of Education Building, 215 South College St., Winchester.
The Franklin County Democratic Party (FCDP) will meet at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Franklin County Annex small meeting room. Everyone is invited to attend.
At 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, the FCDP will host its Autumn Rally at the Franklin County Annex Community Room, 1839 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester. This is a fundraiser with barbecue, hot dogs, chips, baked beans, dessert and a drink. The cost is $15 per ticket. Presale tickets are available from any FCDP committee member. Tickets will also be for sale at the door. There will also be a silent auction and door prizes. U.S. Congressional candidates for the 4th District, Steven Reynolds and Maria Phillips, will be in attendance to meet with concerned citizens.
Children’s Center Potluck
The community is invited to the Sewanee Children’s Center Potluck Picnic 4–8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Lake Cheston Pavillion. Bring a dish to share.
Sewanee Book Club Meeting
The Sewanee Book Club will meet at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18, at the home of Flournoy Rogers. Our book is “Hillbilly Elegy” by J.D. Vance and we are pleased to have Leslie Lytle review the book.
