Operation Christmas Child
There will be a Packing Party for Operation Christmas Child during the week of Nov. 13–17 in the Hearth Room of the Bishop’s Common. Packing will take place Monday –Thursday, from 1–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m., and from 1–5 p.m. on Friday. Approximatley 1,000 boxes will be packed this year and help is needed to pack. Donations are also accepted to cover shipping costs. There is also a need for donations of new soccer balls and small stuffed animals for the boxes.
During the past 6 years, University students and the Sewanee community have packed more than 1,500 shoeboxes for children in more than 100 foreign countries. These boxes are filled with school supplies, hygiene items, shoes, clothing, cups, and toys. Anyone in the Sewanee and surrounding communities are invited to pack shoeboxes and join the University students who will be leading this project.
